Moms day out...

I FINALLY left Cash for the first time yesterday. Brandon isn't working saturdays for the time being so I figured it was the perfect time to sneak out and BREATHE! It HAS been almost 10 weeks, I figured I deserved a little ME time and I really wanted Brandon to see my day isn't full of bon bons & soap operas! I dawdled a little while leaving, I kept finding things that ALL OF THE SUDDEN needed my attention... OH MY, I forgot to start that laundry, OH NO - I haven't vaccuumed in a few days... I NEED to re-organize the pantry! It is ESSENTIAL that I dust the shelf above the washer & dryer.... Brandon pretty much pushed me out the door. I cried a little saying goodbye to Cash, while telling Brandon: "it's not that I don't TRUST you..."

Then I was off... there was mild panic, looking in the rearview mirror and not seeing the carseat made me think... did I leave Cash somewhere? The plan was to get my nails done, stress has taken my short but well taken care of nails to bloody stumps... they needed help BAD, and FAST! I didn't want to drive ALL the way to my salon in Bellevue, at that point it felt like HOURS away, in reality it's about 15 minutes TOPS - but I coudln't risk it. Instead I chose the closest Salon, which was up on the plateau in Pine Lake - it was a crap shoot, but I needed to be close to home in case I had a breakdown!

I got right in and was sitting with a cute teenie tiny little nail tech when she asked me what color nail polish I wanted... but what I heard was:

"what huge event is occuring in your world today??"

I proceeded to tell her ALL about how it was the first time i've left my 9 week old son and I was a little nervous. She was very sweet, I could really only understand about every third word, language barriers and masks make for a hard conversation at a nail salon, but I could see the empathy in her eyes and I felt like I was in good company. She told me about her two boys, six and 20 months and how hard it is for her to leave them but that she has to make money to help support the family. At that point I felt SO blessed to have such a hard working husband, who gives his ALL 60+ hours a week so that I can stay home and raise our son.

I returned home an hour and a half later. Cash was asleep on Brandon's shoulder and he proceeded to tell me that he slept almost the WHOLE TIME.... figures! I'm glad I got out of the house for a bit for my sanity and vanity... but I don't think I will be leaving too often. I've wanted to be a mama for so long, I love my son beyond words and really, every day is better because of him - no matter how tired, sore or un-showered I am! I love my little monster!!

To Binki, or NOT to Binki....

That IS the question..... the answer is YES, PLEASE!!!!! Unfortunatley Cash doesn't agree, he is still pushing the bink out... he is an avid sucker and LOVES to nurse and even sucks on our pinkis but the bink just isn't his gig. I have purchased EVERY binki known to man.... I have nuks, soothies, playtex, gerber, born free, short, long , round , curved, "mother's nipple", latex, blah blah blah! For the LOVE of God there HAS to be a binki he will take! My friends tell me not to give up... i'm at my wits end! I'm thinking he just isn't a bink type of kid. Others tell me how LUCKY I am. " You are SOOOO lucky, you won't have to break him of the binki habit." they say.... I say : NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, YOU try nursing him to sleep and all through the night, my nipples are his binki, OUCH! If he didn't LIKE the binki i wouldn't force it on him... but he really enjoys it when he is able to keep it in, he spits it out and then 'roots' for it again. He just can't quite seem to keep it in his mouth! I'm drowning in binkis! I think I have enough to open a daycare! haha

Sophie la Girafe!

Cash James has a new toy!
Actually, he has had it for a few weeks but I forgot to bust her out of her packaging... I finally did and he LOVES her! My friend Tawny bought it for him, it's a "chew toy" of sorts... ok ok ok, I know, I need to stop referring to my human child like I do my fuzzy child, I guess it's a "teether" ...
Her name is Sophie and she is from France and Cash is in LOVE with her!
A little history on his new french mistress......

Once upon a time...
The little giraffe was born on 25th May in year 1961...Saint Sophie's day! In those days, the only animal toys available were farm animals or pet figures... That is why one day in France, a certain Monsieur Rampeau, who was an expert in transforming sap from the hevea tree using the rotational moulding of rubber as a toy-making concept, came up with the idea of designing a giraffe. Such an exotic wildlife figure would be a first on the market, and its size and shape would be ideal for a baby's small hands to grasp. Sophie the Giraffe, who looked exactly the same then as she does today, went into production on a Thursday 25th May, whence her name. She was an immediate success. Young mothers straightaway saw that she was a must for their children...When the first signs of teething appear, Sophie the Giraffe helps baby stop crying! By simple word of mouth, the little giraffe's fame spread. From then on in Europe, generation upon generation of children were to love hearing Sophie squeak whenever they pressed her tummy or head! Vulli, a company based in Rumilly in the Haute-Savoie region of France has continued to keep the jealously guarded secret of how this wonder toy is made. Sophie the Giraffe is still "traditionally" produced to this day, a process that involves more than 14 manual operations. She is made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea tree.

Candid Camera

I finally figured out how to take short videos on our digital camera. I still really want to buy a small video camera to catch Cash's milestones but for now my kodak will have to suffice! Cash is almost 8 weeks old and he is getting so big and changing every day. He laughs & smiles at us all the time, he is SUCH a happy baby! He especially likes it when we sing to him! We bought him a mobile for his crib that plays mozart & nature sounds with little animals that spin and twirl - he lays in his crib smiling, laughing & "dancing" along to the music while mama gets a much needed shower!! Here are a few videos we have taken thus far... the camera doesn't have any lighting so two of the videos are dark, I have since learned to shoot in bright rooms!!
ENJOY OUR BOY!!!
